Centre of Expertise on child sexual abuse launches new film series
9/4/2022
At least half a million children are estimated to experience some form of sexual abuse each year. Supporting professionals to have the knowledge, skills and confidence in identifying and responding to concerns of child sexual abuse is fundamental in addressing this.
The Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse has produced a new film series which distils key information from their practice and they have produced resources for professionals in 12 short films. They are designed for anyone whose role brings them into contact with children and young people under 18 years old or their parents or carers.
The resources are:
- Signs and Indicators: A template for identifying and responding to concerns of child sexual abuse
- Communicating with children: A guide for those working with children who have or may have been sexually abused
- Supporting parents and carers: A guide for those working with families affected by child sexual abuse
The series can be watched in full, one video at a time, or in sections. They recommend watching the videos and then taking further time to read and reflect on the actual resources. Watch them all on the YouTube channel here: CSA Centre - YouTube or visit the website for more information.
